Alone in the Wilderness tells the story of Dick Proenneke, presented by Bob Swerer Productions as seen on PBS!
"Thousands have had such dreams, but Dick Proenneke lived them. He found a place, built a cabin, and stayed to become part of the country. This video Alone in the Wilderness is a simple account of the day-to-day explorations and activities he carried out alone, and the constant chain of nature's events that kept him company."- Sam Keith
Alone in the Wilderness...To live in a pristine land unchanged by man... To roam a wilderness through which few other humans have passed... To choose an idyllic site, cut trees and build a log cabin... To be a self-sufficient craftsman, making what is needed from materials available... To be not at odds with the world, but content with one's own thoughts and company...

Dick Proenneke retired at age 50 in 1967 and decided to build his own cabin on the shore of Twin Lakes. The first summer he scouted for the best cabin site, and cut and peeled the logs he would need for his cabin. Dick Proenneke returned the next summer to finish the cabin where he lived for over 30 years. Dick filmed his adventures, and Bob Swerer later turned the film into a video so we can all watch this amazing man build his cabin by hand.
The
Alone in the Wilderness video is must for all true survivalists and lovers of nature.
NOTE. Alone in the wilderness is my favorite video/DVD that we sell here at CampingSurvival.com. I highly recommend it to everyone for themselves or even as a gift. This video is so well made and narrated, that I have watched it a whole bunch of times, and still enjoy watching it. My kids and parents even love the video. It’s simple, crisp and clear the way the makers turned Dick Proenneke’s own videos into a fun to watch documentary of Dick’s many years in the Alaskan wilderness. He was an amazing guy. 50 years old and he picks up and goes to Alaska to see if he can make it a year and ends up staying until he’s about 80. Dick was one very tough guy and watching his amazing wood working and building skills makes most people look like kids working with Lincoln logs. If you know someone that enjoys the outdoors, loves a good true story or even simply remembers watching that nature show as a kid narrated by the guy with the smooth voice and maybe even misses the show, then this is the gift for them. I guarantee that if you buy this video, you’ll love it.
