Canned Desserts & Condiments

Canned long shelf life food is made with a method of preserving food in which the food is processed and sealed in an airtight container. The process was first developed as a French military discovery. The packaging prevents microorganisms from entering and proliferating inside.

To prevent the food from being spoiled before and during containment, quite a number of methods are used: pasteurization, boiling, other means of high temperature applied over a period of time, refrigeration, outright freezing, drying, vacuum treatment, antimicrobial agents that are natural to the indigenous recipe of the foodstuff being preserved, or otherwise are applied to the contents of the can, a sufficient dose of ionizing radiation, submersion in a strongly saline, acid, base, osmotically extreme (e.g. very sugary) or otherwise microbially challenging environments.

Canned food labels have tendency to peel off over time, especially if they are kept for years in your basement. In order to prevent this, put a coat of shellac over the label as soon as you get them. This way, you will always know what's in the can years later.

10/24/08 - We recently picked up some great long shelf life canned foods and they are selling even better than we expected. I decided to do a taste test today on a few of them and we're all shocked at how good they are. I opened up a can each of the bacon, turkey chunks, pork sausage and the bread. None of us liked the bread. However all the rest are awesome! I think we all like the bacon the best. There is quite a bit of full bacon strips (not dehydrated and ready to eat right out of the can) wrapped in wax paper in the can. I eat all kinds of crazy things, but Lisa, David and Loree also loved the canned turkey, canned pork sausage and the canned bacon. It surprised me how tasty and full of flavor they all are. In fact, we're all filing up on it and are having it for lunch today. The three cans of meats is more than enough food for the 4 of us. The bread isn't horrible. We all agree that it kind of tastes like molasses bread that has been in a can. I know, not a very good description, but it's the best we can do for now. The bread is moist and a little crumbly, but doesn't compare to the full, rich flavor of the other canned foods we tested. Over time, we might do taste tests on more of our canned foods, but I hope this gives you a good idea of all our canned foods since they come from the same company.

01/16/09 - We started offering these canned foods just a few months ago and they are already among our best selling products. We stock more and more of these long shelf life canned foods every week. We have a steady, current and brand new supply and get more every week. We ship them out almost as quickly as we get them. We are also preparing one year food supplies with these items so stay tuned for that. We are also adding new canned food items every month. Even though they are moving so fast, we’re doing great on shipping times. These long shelf life canned foods ship from our warehouse in Upstate NY.
