Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LONG will the RADIO PLAY when you CRANK IT UP?
If you crank from a low battery, about two minutes of crank time gives you an hour of playtime.
You'd really only crank it in a situation where you had no electricity, no sun and no AA batteries.
I leave mine on my desk by the window and let the sunlight recharge the internal NICAD battery.
It's been playing here for days without being plugged in and no AA batteries in it.
What's the BEST WAY TO USE the radio? Or
What's the BEST WAY TO CHARGE the internal NICAD batteries?
In a situation where you have electric current, just plug it in using the AC/DC adapter.
If you don't have electricity, the radio will run about a hundred hours on 3 AA batteries.
Four hours of sun charge the internal battery for about 24 hours. You'd only use the dynamo with no electricity, no sun and no batteries.
How long do the INTERNAL NICAD BATTERIES last?
The NICAD batteries can be fully charged and discharged more than 500 times. The batteries should recharge for at least 5 years.
Can I change them?
They can only be replaced at the factory or by a professional technician. Even if the NICAD batteries were fully exhausted you could still play the radio using current, AA batteries or solar power.
Which short wave stations can I hear?
Are you using the Short Wave Aerial that come with the unit? It's in the end of the box that
has the AC/AD transformer. Just clip the alligator plugs on the telescoping antenna on top of the unit. Short Wave reception depends on where and when you use the radio.
If you're in a large building or in a mountainous area, you may need the short-wave antenna for better reception. The West picks up Asian and Australian stations better and the East picks upEuropean stations better.
Most short wave is broadcasting from very different time zones than the United States. The best time to listen is at night because more short wave stations are broadcasting and because more clouds reflect the signals.

What TV stations can I get?
You can get network and local stations on TV channels 1-13.
