Kaito Shortwave Radio Receiver
The KA1101 receives FM in stereo from 70 to 108 mHz, AM Medium Wave from 520 to 1710 kHz and Shortwave from 3 to 26 mHz. Both the sound quality and reception sensitivity is top notch and combined with the many convenience features makes it a tremendous value. Initial reviews of the Asian version (Degen DE1101) have been very favorable (see review below) especially at this low selling price. This USA version incorporates the proper 10 kHz channel spacing for the Medium Wave band and Medium Wave band coverage is also the full 520-1710 as expected in the USA.

KA1101 high quality world receiver is made in one of the best radio factories in China and it receives all of the shortwave broadcast frequencies.

A narrow filter setting better separates stations on crowded shortwave bands and a wide filter setting provides better audio fidelity. The included indoor wire antenna plugs into the radio’s external antenna jacks and dramatically improves the shortwave reception over the telescopic antenna. The radio contains an automatic light sensor that turns on the light for the LCD display whenever a key is pressed and the ambient light level is low. The dual conversion circuitry reduces out of band stations from interfering with the received frequency.

Included with the radio are three Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable AA batteries that can be recharged up to 500 times with the included AC adapter/charger. The radio is slow to drain the batteries during use so there probably won’t be a need to purchase any expensive AA alkaline batteries during the life of the radio.

The complete package includes the KA1101 world band radio, stereo ear buds, external wire antenna, carrying case, 3 AA NiMH batteries, an AC adapter/charger, hand strap, English manual all in the retail packaging box.
