I just finished reading your Woodsman's Pal information page, and there are uses this tool is also designed for, which you fail to list.
Swinging flat, or if one is capable of fine accuracy, the far side edge, the Woodsman's Pal is an excellent hammer. Not much good in tight hammering places, but perfect for tent stakes, or spiking into trees or a granite crack.
Because the end of the Woodsman's Pal is appropriately designed to be so, it is an excellent flat shovel which can be used as such without dulling either of the cutting edges. But if one wants a sharp end edge, my Woodsman's
Pal has a slight bevel on one side, so if needed, sharpening it to a real cutting edge would take much less time...
I have owned and extensively used my personal Woodsman's Pal for something over 35 years. I have used it both in upstate New York, and here is Alaska, and it is exactly the tool I would select if I could only carry one item in a camping or survival situation. Or even around the cabin...
