Item Description
Coghlans Piezoelectric Lighter is lightweight, easy to pack or store. Solid state, No flints, No batteries. 13" (33cm) long-reaches hard to light pilots and burners.

Coghlans Piezoelectric Lighter How Does It Work?

Piezoelectric is a method of creating an electric voltage at low current. By pressing the black button, a piece of solid state ceramic material is hit by a small "hammer" which causes an electric voltage to travel up a tough teflon lead wire within the tube to the tip where an electrode is positioned.

The unit, located within the handle, is completely sealed and is impervious to water, making it ideal for campers or backyard chefs for lighting stoves, heaters and barbecues.

Directions:
  • Always place tip of lighter close to burner (almost touching).
  • When lighting pilot lights, place tip close to area where the gas is leaving the pilot orifice.
  • Remember propane and butane gas is heavier than air. Natural gas is lighter than air. The spark takes pace 1/4" inside the tube, so always hold the lighter so the gas flows to spark through open end of tube or through slots on sides.
  • Press black button as soon as gas is turned on and repeat as necessary until gas is lighted.
  • Press black button with forefinger or thumb (whichever feels more comfortable).
  • Can be used to light burners or pilot lights on propane, butane, natural gas or gasoline stoves heaters or barbecues.
  • The spark is tiny and may be hard to see in bright sunlight.
  • We do not recommend lighter be used for lighting propane, butane or gasoline lanterns or lamps.
