Details

The color of TABASCO® brand Green Jalapeno Pepper Sauce comes from its main ingredient. But you can also think of the sauce’s green color as your signal to go ahead and pour it on, because TABASCO® Green Sauce is milder than our Original Red Sauce. But, since it’s TABASCO®, you can bet it’s still plenty flavorful.

A must for Mexican food. Jalapeno is one of the main flavors of Mexican food, and TABASCO® brand Green Jalapeno Pepper Sauce makes this popular cuisine especially delicious. Add it to a whole host of dips and dishes, like guacamole, salsa, tacos and burritos. It works just as well on entrees like red beans and rice or paella.

A hit north of the border, too. TABASCO® Green Sauce goes well with more than Mexican food. For instance, in Canada it’s often used to make a great Caesar, the Canadian version of a Bloody Mary. From barbecue sauce to dips, broiled fish to ice-cold melon, TABASCO® Green Sauce can be enjoyed unsparingly!

Ingredients: distilled vinegar, jalapeno pepper, water, salt, cornstarch, xanthan gum, ascorbic acid “to preserve freshness”.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where should TABASCO® Sauce be stored?

TABASCO® Sauce should be stored in a cool place away from direct light, such as a cupboard, pantry or cabinet. It doesn’t have to be refrigerated after opening. Once a bottle of sauce is opened, the color may change, but the product won’t spoil. Refrigeration almost always helps to slow this process but isn’t required.

Why does a bottle of TABASCO® Original Red Sauce darken over time?

The red pigments in tabasco peppers are light sensitive and will darken over time. Because there are no color additives in our Original Red Sauce, excessive contact with artificial light or sunlight may cause the sauce to darken. Extreme cold or hot temperatures may also cause the sauce to darken. But don’t worry; this does not mean the sauce has gone bad. It has a shelf life of 5 years.

What is the shelf life of each TABASCO® Pepper Sauce flavor?

Our Original Red Sauce has a shelf life of 5 years when unopened and stored in a cool place, but due to the potential for color change based on light and temperature exposure, we say that it is “best by” the third year.

Our Buffalo Style Hot Sauce, Garlic Pepper Sauce and Habanero Sauce have a shelf life of 2 years.

Our Green Jalapeño Pepper Sauce, Chipotle Sauce and SWEET & Spicy Sauce have a shelf life of 18 months.

Any TABASCO® brand product will be good throughout its respective shelf life, even after the bottle has been opened. Once a bottle of sauce is opened, the color may change, but the product won’t spoil. Refrigeration almost always helps to slow this process but isn’t required.

How do I read the date code on a bottle?

We use a six digit coding system for all of our products. The code date information is located on the carton and the shoulder of the bottle. The following is an example of how to read the date code. This particular example references a product that was produced on May 12, 2011.

Example: 051211

05 – Production Month

12 – Production Day

11 – Production Year

In addition to the date code, there is also an expiration date printed on the bottle and/or label.
